Australian news consumers are confronting new paywalls all over the place — but it’s all free at the ABC, where the national broadcaster is quietly combining the full force of its television, radio and digital news teams for one hugely ambitious online market grab.

Mwahahaha, die non-government sponsored propaganda news!

But seriously, I love Auntie. :)

Rather I like the freedom of reading news without directly paying for it (paid by taxes). That's why I hate Fairfax so much. In an online world, making people pay for content (e-newspaper) won't work at all.

In a way I almost feel bad for print media, but pay walls will not work. The media landscape has changed and people like their info free and frequent.

I wonder what the solution will be, hopefully its not fully ad supported media...

Well the ABC isn't ad supported because it's paid for by taxpapers.
