Hi All,
I'm at my wit's end trying to figure out what's wrong with my Dell
Axim 3.
I unplugged everything on my pc during the hurricanes. Just left
everything sitting in place and covered with plastic in case the roof
went. Then, no power for 7 days.
When I finally set everything back up, my axim won't connect. I keep
getting *your device not detected*. I've tried everything:
remove and reinstall Active Sync
using all the different USB ports on my desktop pc (they work with
other devices)
soft reset
hard reset, you name it, I've done it.
The cradle seems to be working since everything is lit up.
The axim is working just fine. I just cannot get a connection between
the 2.

I get this a LOT - the equivalent of a BSOD in old Windows - it requires you
t reset the device.
Just poke the pin in the hole, and when the device reboots - plug the USB
cable in.
It should be recognized just fine.

Thanks for your help, Bev. I read all the stuff and went thru the
Google sites. Tried all of it. Finally got back to Dell and they've
decided that the axim is failing and they're going to replace.
Sure hope this is going to fix my problem.

"Is failing"?!
Does this mean that the device is just so buggy that Dell's gonna send
everyone replacements or something?
Is it like a regular "recall" thing?

Not that I know of. Just mine. I've had it since March and never had a
bit of trouble with it. Everything worked really well. Then, when I
unplugged for 8 days for the storms, it just didn't work anymore.

Maybe it's the USB drivers for your PC that is messed up. Worth trying
anyways.

for clarification, the "usb drivers" for ppc's are simply text files
that contain the usb id of the PPC and the fact that the device
associates with activesync services.
If the driver is missing, the pc will complain that it cannot find
information about the connecting device (the ppc)
If the ppc connects without displeasure but fails to function, the issue
is within activesync and it's settings.
