Should I get X2 4200 Manchester or X2 4400 Toledo?

Is there a huge difference? I'm planning to buy a new desktop. Would the $100 difference justify? Going to put in a X1900XT, 2 gigs Kingston DDR400, Asus A8R-MVP and crossfire in the future.

I play games and sometimes make 3D.

Thanks in advance

The 4400+ is an excellent choice, actually the two combined will be great because of the extra cache on both cores plus the advantage of having a 512mb good for future games. I own both the 4400+ and a Saphire X1900XT 2 Gigs PC 3200 (400) Corsair XMS, Creative XFI, and the Asus SLI Premium, and my rig smokes. You can't go wrong with either but the extra cache on both cores will help in the future, it may be overkill for now but you'll need it later. I'm a student majoring in Annimation and Visual Effects, that is the reason I chose this setup. One more thing you should invest in for the future is either a Nvidia Quadro FX Card or ATI Fire GL Card for 3d content creation.

Thanks but why did you get a SLi motherboard, not planning to crossfire? Just curious

I think I read something about the Toledo not being able to use the extra 512mb. I could be wrong.

Because I'm going to use two quadro 1400 FX cards in SLI for the future, I already own one FX 1400 card but getting another soon, for an increase in speed while rendering 3d content. I could care less for Nvidia Consumer cards
for gaming because of poor image quality, but I rely on them for workstation products because image quality on Quadro cards are better than the quality on their gaming cards.

That's not true! I utilizes it wisely unlike Intel. I could tell the difference coming from a 7800 GT 256Mb. Even if it does use it most of the time it does not need it due to the on die memory controller making the ram on the card independent from the rest of the CPU's cache, which beef up performance.
To answer the other part of your question Crossfire took along time to hit the
market so I went for the SLI setup for workstation purposes.
