Hello,

I've decided I'm sick of my twin 6600 GT's, I'm getting a pair of 7800 GTX's for my MSI diamond SLI PCIE motherboard.

My question is - What brand is best?
Now I've seen several brands for 7800 GTX, some much cheaper than others. I'm thinking since I have an MSI motherboard I might get a pair of MSI 7800 GTX cards.

What do you guys think?

Cheers.
Nick.

P.S I've 2 MSI 256 meg 7800 GTX's on ebay for $950 free postage.
Good price or not?

Doesn't really matter the brands of the mobo and graphics card. But if you want the best then it will cost you. One thing though is look out for the Evga KO, it's expensive and not worth it. I personally like BFG, the cards performs well and have a lifetime warranty and good support.

2 MSI 7800 GTX 256 for $475 each. Not really and it has a 3 year standard warranty, means it not guarateed to work after that. Im sure you could find some better deals with higher performance and good warranty like XFX, BFG and ASUS.

I thought MSI 256 meg 7800 GTX is a good brand. I would only be doing LIGHT over clocking.

Plus it would go nicely with my MSI K8N Diamond motherboard.
On the box it says "Best for VGA MSI 7800 GTX"

Anyone else have an opinion? Personally I think $475 each is good.

Personal vote is for the Leadtek Winfast 7800 GTX's

- Video RAM Timings aswell as clock speed
- Is Winfast... Is Good.
- (I ain't a fanboy, but their video BIOS actually tests the video RAM)
- Updated BIOS raises the bar
- See: http://www.leadtek.com/3d_graphic/winfast_px7800gtx_tdhvivo_1.html

There are plenty of other fine choices availalble (and I ain't a plant for Winfast, if they screw me over I'll change brands in a heartbeat), so shop around a little more.

Call this more a 'suggestion' than a 'heavy recommendation', as I don't need another label sticking to me - "The Itanium Fanboy" is enough - thank you - :p

I like BFG and eVGA, both have lifetime warranties. 8)
Compared to MSI's 5 year warranty, but warranty isn't a concern, then by all means then become a MSI fanboy muhahahhah

Warranty wise, and performance... BFG would easily come in at the top. However, Asus is well known for making great non-reference based cards also.

EVGA is trying to come back from the days of marketing bull and short of promise... however, I am still hesitant to suggest them. Gigabyte and MSI are known for fair priced cards... but not superior OCing. Gainward is known for OCing, but not ness. quality.

Unless you have a 2048x1536 res monitor overclocking SLI GTX's is just going to raise your electric bill. You won't see a lot of difference below 1600x1200. I would leave them at stock. BFG overclocks theirs by default.

Try and beat eVGA's 490 core on a 7800GTX :).

I went with the eVGA 7800GTX 470 core to save a few dollars, but it comes with the same AC3 cooling as the 490 core. I acctually liquid cooled them and now they run about 520Mhz. I own BF2 and anything else you can think of lol.

SLi FTW!

fanboy post!

all 7800 gtx's are good, you'll find a fan of every brand under the sun...personally I've always been happy with xfx and bfg...i had 2 evga cards that crapped out after a couple months, and i've never used an asus or any other card...
