ATA133 or SATA-II?

Hi
Is it worth getting the Samsung SPINPOINT P80 120GB ATA133 drive over the Seagate BARRACUDA 7200.9 120GB NCQ SATA2 drive for the sake of saving $10? I'm on what you could call a tight budget for this system and will there be any less performance from getting the samsung?

the rest of the system-to-be specs:

AMD 3000+ 2.0 s754
1gb ddr400 kingston valueram
6600 256MB
Asus K8N NForce 3 250 mobo

SATA VS PATA is a non issue as far as performance goes.

You can try checking the stats at Storage Review.

My guess is that the Samsung will be a little slower and a little quieter.

I prefer purchase drives with a 5 year Warrany (Seagates and Western Digital Raptor/Raid Editions). I also prefer SATA due to better cabling and worries about the number of IDE available on future motherboards.

ATA133 is just as fast as SATA 3gb with current single drives, however, Samsung drives are generally slower than Seagate, and come with a shorter warranty.

I agree with the earlier posts

Get the Seagate but not because it's SATA2.

The NCQ might help a bit here and there.
