Really weird corruptions going on..HELP!!

ok, i've just built a new pc:
ASUS A8N-E MOBO, 1024 DDR400 DC kINGSTON RAM, ATHLON 64 3200+ CPU, GIGABYTE 6600GT GRAPHICS and HITACHI SATAII 250GB HD.

Basically I've had no end of shit with it. I'm running xp pro and I've installed (as a stop gap measure as it was free with the mobo) norton internet security 2005, as well as nvidia hardware firewall, and sum other security things, they all find nothing, yet every file i download off firefox (legit stuff, e.g media player 10 and new version of firefox!) is corrupted and i have no idea cos all the system scans show up as clean and everythingis up to date.

Can anyone help becuase this is super annoying, as its a fresh install, as of last night!!

Hmm. That is odd, it could be a problem with your ISP, your network interface. Or this is something we dont want to think about but cant rule out: perhaps you got a F*cked version of windows.
Also make sure your norton is configred properly for your connection.
If not it could choke out or block just about everything.
