not sure if this will be a problem or not

just finished building my new rig. havent recieve my monitor yet so i decided to power it up and see if it was all in working order ( i had not connected anything except the power to the back of the tower ) the fan were all spinning and all seemed ok but it would only stay on for about 30 seconds. am i panicing is this just normal if you connect nothing to the back?

Get a monitor, keyboard, mouse, etc plugged into it.

Check if the BIOS has 'voice' failure warnings, so it actually 'says over the speakers' what the problem is.

We can only take stabs in the dark here, and you're the one with the equipment / problem, not us.

Triple check everything, check for shorts, etc

Make sure to check all connections. It could be that your pc is powering down because it's not detecting a monitor, kb and mouse. Stop panicking, its' not gonna help you.

Afraid not. It's not normal... your system should stay on.

What have you plugged in so far????

Do you have any kind of monitor you can use? Does your VGA have TV out? If it does you could in theory hook it up to a TV, it will look terrible but it should work well enough to POST if it does POST that is.
