Hello, i bought a computer off this company and it came with 2 x 200gb maxtor hard drives. However, one of them was faulty so they sent me a new hard drive. The hard drive they sent me, however, was a western digital 200gb which in the performance tests looks really rubbish!. Also i heard that if you have 2 hard drives, its best for them to be of the same make, is that true?

i just wanna know if i should ask for a replacement. thx

Matched drives are only advantageous for RAID setups. Are these drives part of an array?

Are you looking at benchmarks comparing the 200 GB Maxtor model vs the 200 GB WD model?

ah ok thx mate. I avoided getting RAID as i dont really understand it and yes i was comparing the 200gb WD with the 200gb maxtor and on the first test the WD is bottom by a long way :(
