Is this for real? Also saw an FX5900 for that price as well--only mentioning because I've never seen it that cheap, not that I would ever recommend "upgrading" to it...

UPDATE: So the question is...is it plain DDR as newegg suggests or is it DDR3 as the X800GTs should be? If only DDR does that change your vote? If not this card what would you buy? Thanks for feedback, my inno3d card is getting on my nerves and I want to change it to ANYTHING provided it has same or superior performance and it is PCI-express.

That card is like 120 quid in england which is like 200 dollars. Then again, most things are way cheaper in America. Nevertheless, i would say that is a pretty good deal

Hold up...

x800 GT's are supposed to be clocked at 475/490 DDR (980 effective)

This things running at 392/350 DDR (700 effective). Core clock is down over 80 Mhz and memory is down 60mhz DDR. Not even clocked as high as the X800 SE...

I bet these are based on the R430 core, not the overclockable R420 or R480 core. But that's a guess, hard to say for sure.

Hmmm. This card will still rock the $100 price point, and smoke the 6600's - X700's - X1300's, but it's certainly not in the class of the 6600 GT at those clocks.

Still, an overclocker would love this card. The memory would probably go up to 800 Mhz at least, and I'm sure the core could at least hit 425 or so... if it is a true R420 or R480, the core could well surpass a regular X800 GT.

Seems that every other reference to this same card is DDR3. When I say same card I mean the (Sapphire x800 gt).

I would venture to say that it is DDR3

Just agreeing with what has been pointed out already. I purchased a 12-pipe GTO clocked the same for that same price after rebate. If it had been the high clocked GT, then yes it was a great deal, but otherwise at those clocks, go for the 12-pipes.

It would sure make for a fine $99 no rebate AGP card though. If that were AGP, I would order one now.

There is absolutely no reason to buy a 6800-anything part other than a GS model.

The 6800GS are a good bit cheaper and perform the same, if not better assuming you get a really highly overclocked part. Newegg has two of them for just $154 plus +5 shipping after a rebate.

AGP models start around $200, but hey, at least it's not a refurb and it'll come with everything... Going to spend that much on a AGP card though, might as well grab a 7800GS for a even $300? :?

7800GS is not THAT much better than 6800GS AGP. And the thing with the 6800GS AGP is that it's based on the NV40 core. What that means is that if you're lucky, you can unlock another quad and vertex shader, boosting it to better than 6800GT performance. From then, you can overclock it a bit and make it crazier. Most AGP 6800GSes run hot though, so make sure to get a Zalman or an NV Silencer.

Hm, I thought all the 6800-GS models didn't have anything extra built in to unlock, interesting.... Thanks for the info!

The stock 6800GS was at 350/1,000, and those were rated on par with a 6800GT best I recall. Now the newer ones are up to 490/1,100 out of the box for mostly the PCIe variants. With that sort of overclock though I'd certainly expect some heat, yes!
