Hi all,

I have a pretty good adsl connection. Nice and fast for the net, emule, upload and download etc. (Win xp pro). Now, when i want to use FTP programs to share files with my Brother in law's adsl computer overseas - I and he can only download and upload at about 20KB/s. He has achieved about 128 before from other people. (The ftp progs have been adjusted for high transfer rates.)
My Japanese is `not good' and Yahoo Japan assured me i have a 1mbps upload. The typical websites i test speed on suggest (obviously) not that much but certainly a heck of a lot more than 20KB/s. Can you advise me please? My typical emule upload constant is 75KB/s. How do I find if there is a restriction, what do you do, which progs do you recommend and thanks and take care. (I was able to use winmx with him and he was able to take 2 files from me at the same time at about 20KB/s each). Appreciate any input. Cheers.

Your upload and downloads are completely different.

My DSL is 1500 download and 256 upload. or approximately the 20kbs you are getting for uploads on your end. He can only download as fast as your upload.

I aint signing nothing!!!

Thanks Rick - but I'm aware of that:

If I can upload at a constant 75KB/s on emule and upload to the net pretty fast too (upload and download test sites). Why can't i upload faster than 20KB/s using ftp software (that has been set for max transfer speeds) to another single person (pc) who has a much faster download than 20 KB/s. ?
