I have a Radeon 9800XT installed in a AMD3000 machine with 1gb ram.
I would like to add another monitor to display FSNavigator and other
assorted panels, etc.
I'm guessing there should be some sort of fps reduction?
Would any display settings have to be reduced to accommodate the second
display?

If you give the AGP two jobs to do, it is almost certain to have to give
somewhere. A better option might be to buy a cheap PCI card and run the
second monitor from that. I say cheap because you do not need good 3D
ability, as GPS, FS nav etc are all 2D. You do need two cards that can
'live' with each other though, perhaps check a good video card forum for
a recommendation

I'm using two monitors with my GF6800GT and a 3.4 ghz P4. There is a
performance reduction of 15 pct. in comparision to running with one monitor
only.

I've got an Athlon 2700 and a radeon 9600 pro which came with 2 outputs,
much to my suprise I saw no difference in performance with a second monitor
hooked up. primary is a 17", second is 15" windows says both are set to
1024x768, I might have set the 15 to 800x600 in the sim, its a pretty sweet
setup, FS just wouldnt be the same for me with one monitor, I will keep a
lot of the additional panel windows(shift+2 etc...) up there for easy
access, Active Sky and SB or FS Inn when I'm online. I wish I would have
thought of it sooner, I had this 15 sitting in a closet for a few years,
after having this video card for about a year I decided just to expirement
and see how it would work out and I love it

I have an nVidia Geforce4 Ti4200 128DDR and is not a very quick card by
today's standards but I still ran two monitors off it fine with hardly any
reduction in FPS and also things like GPS, FSNav etc isn't very graphical. I
think the idea of buying a new graphics card and that research is too much
hassle as its un-needed
