OK..WELL WHAT IM GETTING AT IS..CAN SOMONE PUT SAY A 8X CARD IN A 4X AGP SLOT..(IF IT PHYSICALLY FITTED).. AND WORK..OR WILL IT JUST FRY THE CARD ETC.. OR NOT OPERATE AT ALL..IVE LOOKED THRU COMMENTS THU GOOGLE AND PEOPLE MAKE COMPARISSIONS..BUT NO ONE SAIDS WHETHER A 8X AGP WILL WORK OR EVEN FIT IN A 4X.. THANKS~ 126AM..SEE IM WANTING TO UPGRADE FROM THE RADEON 7000VE I CURRENTLY HAVE WHICH IS IN A 2X/4X SLOT (ACCORDING TO BELARC) A COMPUTER SOFTWARE ANALYZER THINGY.
An AGP 8x card may work in a 4x slot, it may not. Some cards will handle the extra voltage from a 4x slot (4x-1.5v 8x-0.8v) and some may not. While it wont fry the card you can have TONS of issues like crashing, artifacrts and general insatbility as I learned recently. Some people report no troubles with 8x in 4x but I did. Buy at your own risk.
THANKS LINUS N TOXIC FOR THE INPUT..I FOUND A SITE THAT HAS ,LIKE WOW..AL KINDA DETAILED INFO ON AGP COMPATABILITY CALL TECHSPOT THE "PLAYTOOL' AREA OF IT .SO IM NARROWED DOWN TO EITHER ITSA UNIVERSAL AGP OR EITHER A UNIVERSAL 1.5V AGP AS I have a radeon and it saids radeons are universal..yet my mobo is a intel d845 and it saids those mobo use a agp 1.5 soo, getn there, thanks ken n myrtle beach~
