I upgraded my sony vaio laptop vgn-fj270 to windows 7 and now I have no audio
in the device manager on other devices there is a orange sign on;
Mass Storage Controller,
Network Controller,
Unknown Device,
Video Controller,
none of them have drivers details available, also my usb ports are not working, and no camera too.

Can anyone help me?

Thank you,

Rob.

HI Rob

you need to go onto Sony's website and download the drivers for the relevant hardware. When you do a clean install it will wipe the drivers for the none windows recognised products.

Windows 7 has a lot of drivers in its database but not all.

Just go through these one by one and you will be fine. Just make sure that when you select what operating system you have, make sure its win 7 either 32 bit or 64 bit. You can check this in the system tab under control panel.

I hope this helps.

Laptop is no different than a pc. The first thing you do after installing windows is install your motherboards chipset drivers (audio, lan, usb, etc). Then you install all your windows updates. Then you install your anti-virus and update that and run it as well.

No need to restore your system.

All you need to do is locate the software for windows 7 not vista.

The other thing you can do is try to find out who makes the components. If Sony have used third party components they may not support them as well as you would like.

Under the device manager it should tell you the name of the component, but if not, google search your laptop make and ask the net who makes the camera (for example)

i have searched your laptop model number and i cant find it. Are you sure its correct?

try this link:

http://support.vaio.sony.eu/computing/vaio/index.aspx?old=n&m=0

let me know how you get on.

thanks

I love it when people think they know everything and just give generic answers to all the questions.

There's NO Windows 7 support for this laptop. That's why he installed Vista drivers as they're the closest to Win7 drivers.
The laptop came with Windows XP drivers on the CD. Do you want him to use that instead?

Why is it so difficult to do some research before acting like you're the smart one?
Yes you geekapproved.
