Importance of the L1 cache: X2 4400 vs Opty 170

I'm debating between these two chips, also I plan on OCing. The Opty 170 seems like the obvious choice here, but has half the L1 cache of the X2 4400.

I'm no techie, is this an important aspect of performance?

Also, for those of you who have either of these chips what have you been able to OC them to and keep your system stable?

the 4400+ and the 170 have the same amount of cache the 170 is clocked at 2.0 ghz and the 4400 is clocked at 2.2 i have a 170 and have it overclocked to 2.6 on stock voltage and heatsink i like it a lot it screams in applications

yep, get the 170, it'll clock just as high if not higher and cost less

I too would recommend the Opteron over the X2.
