I have just got my new computer! THe specs currently are as follows:

GPU: Nvidia 6200 Turbocache
CPU: AMD Athlon X2 4200+
Mobo: ASUS SLI Deluxe
RAM: 2 GB DDR 400
HDD: 160 GB SATA II
Optical Drive: LG DVD/CD Supermulti type burner

What performance will I get out current FFS games (especially BF2) at say about 1280 x 1024? What will be the improvement if I was to upgrade to a Gigabyte 7800 GT?

Any relevant comment would be appreciated!

I would estimate quite low on BF2; all low, maybe 1 or 2 on medium, in order to get a stable, playable FPS. Your RAM will help though, since BF2 takes up alot of RAM.

A jump to a 7800GT would be HUGE. GIGANTIC. TOO BIG TO FIT IN THIS TOPIC. So if you have the cash, go for it; 7800GT prices are dropping like crazy, so now's your chance before they're all gone.

Current config = bf2 on low
7800gt = bf2 high all settings max

Yep, your graphics right now is bottlenecking your systems performance. An upgrade to a 7800GT or X1800 would significantly increase your gaming performance.

Yep the graphic card sucks and i have a 6800
wait and get the new 7900 coming in march.
BF2 should have 512 megs of ram on the graphic card.

I had a Asus Nvidia 6200 Turbocache then i borrowed a 7800gt and it is difference is like night and day i would like to note that the Nvidia 6200 Turbocache will play new games on 800x600 well and plays Unreal with everything on and at 1280x1084.

I'm sorry, but you have chosen a contender for perhaps one of the worst video cards in existence for 3d gaming...

Return that poor excuse for a video card ASAP, and get a 6600GT! :-(

geez next time you buy a comp dont smoke a blunt first(smoke it later )the 6200 is like putting crappy tires on a ferrari dude get the 7800gt its much better!

The 6200tc vid card is a one of the worst card nvidia made...

Get a x700pro or a 6600gt if you are on a budget

and if your budget is really low get a 6600le unlock and overclock it.
