SATA2 or SATA1

Hi, i need to kow if i can plug a SATA2 hard drive on a SATA1 connector. I have an abit KV7 motherboard with a VIA KT600 chipset.

The connectors are the same and SATA 1 drives will work on SATA 2 controllers and SATA 2 drives will work on SATA 1 controllers.
