Return to Full screen won't work

I have had this problem for a long time. If I go from Full Screen during a
flight, which is my normal setting, to Window, that works fine. However,
when I try to return from window back to full screen (whatever method I use)
I just get a black screen. I have three monitors and the Parhelia 128, but
it used to work OK a few months ago. Any suggestions apart from updating my
video drivers? I do this regularly and it's a pain too!

Why are you swapping between all the time?

You can access menus using the Alt key

I am not swapping between all the time but sometimes I forget to swwitch on
say, MGrab and I want to take a screenshot, but I don't want to leave my
place in the sim to do it. There are other pressing reasons from time to
time which are good enough for me :)

Probably no help whatsoever, but on my NVidia system (5900XT) I get this
only when I have antialiasing set up high, otherwise no problems. Normally I
can fix it by turning off AA for a moment.
Those newfangled Parhelias though, I dunno...

I will have a look at the antialiasing thing, but IIRRC I don't use the AA
on FS but in the video card. To which are you referring Robin?

Though this doesn't really solve the problem you're having, as that
shouldn't be happening regardless, here's what I do if I need to
temporarily interrupt a flight to do something else on the
computer...

I press the "Start" key (no going to Windowed mode, and no "Alt" key
for menus). By pressing the Start key, fs9 will minimize to the
taskbar (because the "Start" menu wants to pop up), and the flight
will be paused as the sim is minimized to the taskbar (not "paused"
as you would in the sim, but "frozen" until fs9 is maximized again,
and the flight will simply continue right from where it left of).

I wish I could suggest something for the problem you describe.
Oh...one thing perhaps. It may seem strange, but in the past, I've
experienced peculiar video/display related issues when there was
something floopy about my sound card drivers and/or settings
(specifically, having to do with hardware acceleration). These sound
card issues may also have had something to do with my pre-upgraded
hardware system, because now, I have hardware acceleration on full
for the sound card, and I'm not experiencing any of the problems I
had when turning that option off seemed to have resolved something
(hmmm, did I confuse you almost as much as I almost confused myself
with that last bit?) :)

Anyway, the sound card idea is just a long shot crazy idea, based on
little but possibly misremembered solutions to unrelated problems,
but for some reason, the idea stuck in my head anyway, so I thought
I'd mention it. :)

Thanks Lawn,
The Start key is a great idea. I really should have thought of that.
I will use it in a minute!
Also Robin Corn has fixed my problem for the moment I believe. (You should
all look at Robin's New Zealand scenery BTW)

Thanks again everyone.

Cheers,

Quilly
