I can't believe that my Dell PowerEdge 420 with Win 2003 doesn't take the official 2003 drivers from Promise Technology for FastTrack SATA150 TX2Plus card :uhh:

Screenshots from my OS: http://www.dslreports.com/speak/slideshow/15506110?c=969695&ret=L2ZvcnVtL3JlbWFyaywxNTUwNjExMA%3D%3D

in short: "The hardware was not installed because the wizard cannot find the necessary software"

http://www.promise.com/support/download/download2_eng.asp?productId=107&category=all&os=0&go=GO

What could possibly be wrong? I really need this card to be installed :(

Any tips, tricks, links and suggestions are much appreciated ;)

Thank you all...

A number of things spring to mind, are you sure the card is properly installed (always a good one to check) just to make sure it's properly seated. Secondly, are you absolutely positive you have the right model number, and thus the right drivers (I know these are all simple things, but it's best to get those out of the way first).

The other thing that springs to mind is that the drivers may not be digitally signed and your install of windows may be set to silently fail the installation of signed drivers (XP is set to ask, but I just change that to silently succeed, being digitally signed means diddlysquat anyway).

You can check the driver signing settings in the hardware tab of the computer properties (right click my computer, properties).

Hope some of this helped. ;-)
