I've read and experienced a problem with a VIA chipset and my Radeon 8500DV AIW (Crashes on if I use the updated AGP driver, runs slow (AGP 1X) if I don't).

Is there an issue with newer ATI cards and the PCI-E VIA chipsets? A friend of mine is having a problem with his new PC that has a Radeon X550 and a Via chipset (I believe he said an 880, not sure). 2 cards that won't even show video in the post step, while it works fine in my NForce 4.

Is there a fix for this? Is this a common issue?

I found this, and I'll test that driver, but we'll see if that helps. However, that still doesn't help my friend.
