compat problem with DirectX IMediaControl file

I get an error code, Init IMediaControl2, whenever I try
to connect my Nokia phone to my PC (using Nokia PC
Suite). I've seen that lots of people have a similar
problem but have never seen any solutions posted. The
Nokia Connection Manager won't even open; it gives the
error code and says "reinstall PC Suite."

I see IMediaControl is part of Windows DirectX but have
no idea what DirectX is. Can anyone tell me what to
delete to get my phone software to work?
