I have just successfully loaded XP SP2 which I am told includes all the
updates previously supplied by MS for SP1. The loading process made no
effort to remove the multiplicity of original critical and other downloads
and their uninstall files all in separate subdirectories of \WINDOWS. Can I
delete these folders & files?

Hi Peter,

Yes, you can as long as you have no plans to later return to the pre-SP2
state and uninstall them.

Many thanks for that. It seems that SP2 is fine, absolutely no installation
problems, no clashes with programs/hardware, and may even be a little
faster.

Regards

Peter
