Hi folks. I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to burning DVD's, but even I can tell when something is wrong. I'm using Nero 7 to burn data DVD's on my NEC 3550-A (yea, I bought strictly based on THG info) and it's taking FOREVER. The burn process as we speak has been going on for 17+ minutes, and is only at 20% (not normal, right?) All I'm doing is putting mp3 albums on a DVD+R. Best Buy had a nice sale on Fujifilm blanks, so I bought a couple spindles. Is it my discs, my burner, or something I'm doing wrong? Any kind of advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Not to freak you out or anything, but I had that same drive. It died on me last week. Just sent it back to NEC.

Anyways, try using some different media brands. I used Ritek on that burner and it worked fine.

Fujifilm is really crap media, last Riteks also not good.
Try the VHQ media first (Taiyo Yuden, Mitsubishi).
Then, check the IDE-cable you are using (80-wire quality ATA-100/133 cable)

If persists, replace the drive.
