Micophone doesent work, motherboard problem?

My microphone doesnt work, i cant record or talk with it.
I have tried both the onboard sound and a pci-soundcard.
I have reinstalled XP, and tried Linux. No mic.
I have of course tried another mic too.
Can it be something on the motherboard that is busted?


I have a Asus P4P800-E Deluxe. Anyone ?

Have you covered the basics?

1. Make sure it's plugged in the correct port.
2. Make sure the mic is not muted and the mic volume is turned up.

Yeah man, i've have checked all possibilities i can think of. The computer was working fine and just one day when i was going to talk to a friend over msn messenger he couldent hear me. Other sounddrivers, onboard sound which used another physical mic-port, the audigy2 i have etc....

Funny thing is when on messenger or teamspek or other, the reciving end can hear the music and other sounds from my computer!!!!! Loud and clear, instead of the mic! I dont get it????

I think its a problem somewere on the mb but i dont know....
