Hey guys, I just built a system, you can see the SPECs in my signature.

well i got Corsair XMS 1gb (2x512mb) PC3200 TWINX1024-3200C2PT. I love the memory very fast. But if you read some of the reviews of the memory it seems it comes underclocked?

Pros: Runs at 2,3,3,6 1t at 200mhz @ 2.7v in my Epox. I've had it as high as 260mgz @ 2.5,3,3,8 and 2.8v.

Cons: Auto detects at 3,3,3,8 @ 200mhz. Latencies aren't that much better than Corair Value series. My CVS ram ran at 2.5,3,3,8 1t @ 200mhz 2.7v.

that is from new egg from one of the reviews.

mine does the same thing detects at the same speed. what TCL, TRCD TRAS TRP should I set the ram to so that I can run it at the correct speed of 2-3-3-6?

thanks

anyone help ?

It runs at 200MHz Double Data Rate, meaning it sends the data 2 times per clock cycle (for an effective 400MHz RAM speed). If the RAM defaults at 3-3-3-8, that means it's the SPD (Serial Presence Detect) that the manufacturer set it to run at optimal settings w/ the given volts. 2-3-3-6 is your TCL, TRCD, TRAS, and TRP. It's actually in this order:

TCL=Cas=2
TRCD=3
TRP=3
TRAS=6
The "T" stands for Time.

You should be able to obtain those 2-3-3-6 timings easily with 2.6v, but for stabilty, you could try 2.7v as well. I would also try to get 2-2-2-5. If you won't be overclocking, get the best timings you can, and Corsair XMS can easily do 2-2-2-5 @ 2.75v or 2.8v, I recommend doing that if you don't plan to overclock.

Im currently running TwinX 3200XL Pro running @ 2-2-2-5 @2.75v. Runs stable at that level and always has done.

As has already been said the ram u have hasnt come underclocked, just the memory timings are slightly higher that what the ram is capable of...
