If socket 939 is near the end of its life cycle, then what's going to be the next mobo chipset for AMD X2 or Opteron?

How do I future proof my PC by buying the next evolution Mobo so that I can upgrad the cpu down the track if I need too?

It sounds like the 939 is over and getting such a board would limit the cpu's I can upgrade in the future, is this correct?

I'm looking at using either 64x2 3800 or Opteron 165 or 170. I hear the Opteron's are better for overclocking so that's my preference atm. TIA.

I don't believe there is a mobo that will except both. Considering the AM2 will be a 940 pin not to mention it will also use ddr2. Basically if you buy right now you are stuck with 939. Which if you buy the 165 or 170 you should be fine for a while anyway.

Its not just a 940 pin, but a wacked out 940 so its not compatible with todays 940s. that kind of pisses me off, screwing people out of money so they have to buy a new mobo, they dont have to be dicks about it come on.
