Western Digital Raptor question...!

my hard drive is being recognized as a USB device... is a raptor 74gb and is connecte to sata power and to a sata port... also windows says the hdd size is 70gb not 74... what do u guys think?

Absolutely what it should be.

It is seen as a USB device because of the drivers (This is normal behavior)

A hard drive NEVER has as much space as advertised. Search for the technical answer if you need one.

My computer does that to. SATA is hot swappable, on many boards, just like usb is. There is nothing wrong.
Hard drives are advertised as 1gb= 1,000,000,000 bytes when its actually 1,024,000,000 bytes or something along that line.
Plus formating takes up some space too.
Its fine. My 2x250gb in raid 0 shows 465 gb total after formate.
