hmm i duno i guess the proc is making the difference, the p4 you have probly has bigger cache like 512kb and sse2 and sse3. my athlon xp only got 384kb cache and sse1 (i think it has sse1). so i guess thats givin you the extra 1000 points. but yeah xt is better than le especially with my extra pipes and oc
i've just unlocked the other 8 pipes and 2 vertex shaders on my card, no artifacts!! and then o/c to 350 core, mem wouldnt clock any higher this thing now flys!!!!5438 in 3dmark 05.pretty impressive eh?
yeah i guess i was pretty lucky... :-D So now my card is faster than guy with much better CPU and a 6800gt! GO ME! *does a little jig*. Now i guess im guna wait till the next next generation of GPUs and wait for the new Conroe CPUs.Then ill get a system that totally owns everything
I'd try to run matched pairs. (2x512, 2x1024, etc) Especially since you're running a P4 you need all of the RAM bandwidth you can get. If your 512MB is in one stick you should either get another 512MB stick, or take it out and get 2 1GB sticks to run in dual channel. FEAR definately loves RAM as I'm sure other modern games do. I got over 85% RAM useage (on 2GB) running FEAR with most things cranked up all the way.
BTW... what kinds of games do you play? <-important
edit: also of note-higher capacity RAM sticks tend to have looser timings. For example Corsair's VS RAM sticks up to 512MB have timings as fast as 2.5-3-3-7(8?), whereas my pair of VS 1GB sticks have 3-3-3-8. Not a big difference, but it is a very real example.
Sounds about right. AMD Athlon 64 3400+, 2gb ram, 6800gt...got 5106 at
Wow, I have a Prescott 3.0ghz, 2gb RAM, and an Radeon X800 XT Platinum Edition AGP @ 540mhz(core)/600mhz(mem) and My best score is 5794 in 3dMark05. I am surprised that I beat a 6800GT.My Northwood C system at 3.5GHz with 1.5GB of RAM and a 6800GT at 410MHz scores about 6000 points in 3DMark05.
