Lately I have been trouble getting the unit to sync. It doesn't seem
to connect in the cradle and the only way I could get it to sync is
with a USB cable and then I had to hold the cable just right.

Now, the unit will not startup. I have tried soft and hard resets.
All I get is a bright white flash of the screen.

Any ideas on at least how to get it to startup again?

Thanks!

Sounds to me as if the docking connector is bad. If so and it is out of
warranty it will cost about $135 from HP I believe.

Would that be messing up the startup as well?

Same thing happened to me with my 5550 - not working in the cradle, ony USB
if held just right. I fiddled with the docking connector at the base of the
5550 and separated the wires away from the middle lug very slightly (some
were compressed against the lug, some werent) - which made it work instantly
in the cradle.

As to it not turning on - I have seen similar after a crash using Terminal
Server and the unit hard reset. I think I got it back by removing /
replacing the battery, hard reset and puting the unit in the cradle (I was
trying everything) - eventually one reset it worked ok. HTH, good luck!
