Looking for a few tips to get me going. I'm getting to grips with FS 2004
and have also bought FS Global SE.
Here is where I am. Have got to grips with the basics of flying and have
gone through some of the Flying Lessons
which were helpful.
I'm struggling a little with Navigation. There is just a whole load of info
to take in which I guess takes time.
For example I keep seeing VOR and ILS frequencies which seem to be outwith
the range I can tune the radio to.
I'm probably missing something - something to do with High/Low Altitude...
???
Where I'd Like to be.... or where I think I'd like to be.
- Better understanding of nav including VOR and GPS.
- Better (i.e. realistic) airport scenery.
- Improvements/Realism of plane AI - for example British Airways planes at
LHR. More realistic amount of traffic.
- Better understanding of ATC communications (both meaning of messages and
usage). I sometimes find the plane on the runway and the ATC is telling me
to contact
it once I'm ready to take-off - but I can't work out how to do so.
- Understanding of how the scenery add-ons work. There seems to be a number
of methods of achieving the same thing
which is a little confusing.
So any good pointers to good sites for beginners to help with the basics
above and maybe sites which have additional scenery addons?
I guess there are a multitude of forums which have probably endlessly
answered question from clueless newbies like myself before!
This site does not go into GPS approaches, so I would suggest searching
this group using Google's search site
(http://groups-beta.google.com/advanced_search?q=&). There were a few
recent threads in this group discussing GPS approaches.
Then, after all of that info settles in, post some questions in this
group. There are many who would be happy to fill in the blanks.
