can read dvd5 but not dvd9

i can read dvd5 dvd's but dvd9's just cause my computer to hang for a bit then they don't play and they don't show up as disks in the tray ie powerdvd says insert disk to E:. What can i do ?? i had to reinstall windows last time this happens don't want to do it again.

edit: its a Mitsumi DM-2000TE

ok so i'm a retard i just cleaned the lense and it works fine
