I've got an issue where my G5 will lock up for 10-30sec then it'll be fine. This is only affects the mouse, everything else runs smoothly. I could be typing in WordPad, on the internet, doing nothing at all, or playing a game and it'll lock up. It happens randomly as far as i can tell. It's been happening since I purchased it, and has happened many times, it's pretty irritating if i have to be on the computer for hours at a time. It has happened twice in a row, where i got movement again for a second, before it happened again, And it's not happened for 40min in a row. So again, it seems pretty random to me.

I've attempted to replace drivers (nforce 4 and mouse), i've updated the firmware on the g5...I'm not sure where else to go with this. So far nothing has worked. Dang it, it's locked up again... It doesn't do this on my other nforce 4 based computer. Also, unplugging it, and plugging it back in gets it working again, if i'm too impatient for it to start working again on its own.

As the mouse works on your other machine it may suggest the problem lies with a conflict on the computer, rather than a problem with the mouse.

Check you haven't got any other devices battling for bandwidth on the same USB hub.

My next step would be to try another USB mouse on the computer in the same port and see if the problem persists. Update your motherboard USB drivers and also get the USB 2.0 fix from MS, if you haven't already.

Next, contact logitech. They may have a patch for your specific needs.

Yea it's an issue between the mouse and something else. I've updated the drivers for the motherboard (nforce chipset drivers). As well as updating the gpu and mouse drivers.

It's the only thing plugged in to a usb device. Other usb mice (other then the g5) work fine, i had another usb infrared logitech mouse attached before i got my g5.

I have all the latest patches from MS, that are available from the MS update site, minus the hardware patch[es]. There is one hardware patch available for the built-in gigabit adapter. However, i don't download hardware updates from ms for any reason. Doin that is just asking for a headache.

I will look in to the USB fix however.

Contacting logitech is looking to be an issue, i had already been out to their site, trying to get help heh. I found where one other person in their forum had the same issue, but i haven't heard from him yet.

Very interested in hearing a fix if you get it fixed. I'm having almost the same issue. My mouse will lock up for 15-20 sec at a time randomly as well. Some other issues iv been having is that i get random lag delays with the mouse and keybard (i'll move my mouse to the left, during a game, and it will move to the left after 3-5 sec.) Oh. and i also get random keyboard disconnects as well. Only happend once though.

Im running the bluetooth logitech MX 5000, and i have run ALL the auto update utilities. my windows xp drivers are up to date for the usb device port, and my logitech drivers are up to date according to the utility. Also, I am using the drivers that came on cd with the keyboard and mouse, not service pack 2 drivers from XP. Although, i have tried both and get the same results.
