using start up floppy disks

What version of MS-DOS is on the disks and why did you make them?

XP is not really a DOS system so what are you expecting to do?

The A:\ you're talking about is the prompt - what were you expecting?

Go to the local bookstore and look for "DOS for Dummies" if you really want
to work in DOS.

DOS is a small operating system that can be started from floppies. It has
it's own set of rules and capabilities. Many volumes of books have been
written about the various versions of the DOS operating system.

You really expect someone to teach you, in a few lines, how to use an
antiquated O/S, when apparantly you can't learn how to use the one you are
currently using???

Go get a book!

Hi Joanne

Why do you need to startup with the floppy disks? Can't your PC boot from
the XP CD? If you are having any problems with XP, try posting them here.
If need be, you can perform a 'Repair' install of XP, to get it up and
running again.

If you are referring to the 6 disk set then you have installed the "Recovery
Console" At the command prompt type Help and press Enter. Also read here

Before suggesting that someone with a legitimate questions is stupid,
you might want to:

Learn the difference between "its" and "it's";
Learn how to spell "apparently";
Realize that it's "pissed off" and not "pissed of."
