hi everyone...i need some desperate help on this. i have just ordered the Logitech Z 2300 speakers to go along side with my dell 5.1 speakers and i think ill be needing another one of these things(look below) to attach the additional 3 3.5mm headphone jacks into the pc...( look below ) okay i think im just speaking crap here...im confused.
check the pictures and if anyone knows how many jacks the Logitech Z 2300 uses to connect to the pc - LET ME KNOW! Many thanks
fahim
..whats this thing called? - i tried google millions of times...no luck!
C and C2 is the thing i would like to purchase.
A is the 3 3.5mm jacks that comes from my dell 5.1 speakers that goes into B
D shows A + B connected together and at the end is just 1 3.5mm jack which goes into my pc. ( dell 8400 )
Question once again: what is it called? where can i buy it from ? does the Logitech Z 2300 work in the same way. if it does i plan to buy this additional connector THING and then buy a ' Stereo splitter 3.5mm jack to 2 x 3.5mm sockets ' to connect both of my adaptor things into..
okay okay i know NONE of this THINGY THINGY shit is understandable..im sorry! but any suggestions will be greatly appreciated! thanks once again fahim.
The thing on C and C2 pictures is called simply "an adaptor" since it changes the connector type to be used. 5.1 speaker setups do have 3 way connectors like in the A picture since it has separate connectors for front, back and center speakers. However, in cheap 2.1 setups like Logitech Z2300 there is only one connector, like the green connector in pictures C and C2 coming from the speakers, so you can connect it directly to you soundcard's line out and you don't need any adaptors.
If your soundcard has only 3 holes - line in (blue), mic in (pink), line out (green) - you should connect your dell speakers to it this way
Green connector -> line out (green hole)
Black connector -> line in (blue hole)
Yellow connector -> mic in (pink hole)
I don't know if it would work with the adaptor like in C and C2 pictures (i doubt it), but it will work the way i just explained.
Obviously you cant use both speaker systems at the same time with only one simple soundcard.
woah - talk about a fast response! JOLLA - u are my saviour I LOVE YOU thanks so much for the info. extremely appriciated.
looks like both speakers will work together just fine...ive already connected my 5.1 plus a standard pair of speakers ( no sub ) to my system and it worked fine. and if not? then ill just give them to a freind etc...
Glad that i could help I guess it will work fine if you have enough adaptors... i mean connecting both of the systems. But you could also try connectin the dell speakers the way i explained and see if it makes any difference to the sound. I'm just curious
yellow hole
black hole
and obviously the green hole
i attmepted puttin it in the way you said ' black connector -> line in ( blue hole' but it doesent seem to work properly with that - only when i blast it i can hear tiny little bits of the song but the rest is just the hissing noise.
Well, some soundcards might have different colors for the inputs and outputs. But if you have more than 3 holes it sounds like you have additional holes for extra speakers. What's your soundcard?
