6600GT Upgrade Question

In thinking about upgrading my computer, I've decided that I may get a 6600GT AGP from a Geforce 4 MX 440 64MB but I was wondering if my 300watt Tiger Pro PSU (It's lasted 4 years stable and counting) is adequate for the card. Any thoughts?

btw ur gonna need a power connecter for it it uses the same power connector as your harddrive or CD drives use so make sure u have one that can reach your card if not buy an extention of some sort with ur card

6600GT is a good deal

I appreciate it, I'm considering such an upgrade as I think the card will be able to play some games for up to 2 years. I've been a sub 30fps gamer my whole life as you can tell by my gfx card and I'm not into the whole bells and whistles aspect.

i got your card in PCI version so its ur card but slower i run source with AA at 4x its OCed just a bit

yeah , Go For the 6600GT , and find some brand that does not need power connector (i think gigabyte silent version , or asus or MSI ) and you will be happy !!

you need at least a 350w ps,,based on what research i've done,,did
basicly the same upgrade you're thinking of.
personaly i bouight a 425w psu to go with it,,and hooking up that 4 pin molex is no big deal. just hook it up and it'll work fine. It's if you Don't plug it in you'll run into trouble!
anyways,,your AGP slot will make a Big difference too,,if you have a
AGP 4x yes you will see a difference,,if 8x,,the difference is WOW!

Wat mobo do you have? If its 4x then you may well find that you will have problems like black outs, pixel corruption etc. etc.

While the speeds ARE compatible, voltages are not and this can cause problems sometimes if you get a cheap 6600GT and it doesnt except universal volatages.

Trust me, I say this from experience.

i mean..dont buy a PSU until u see these probs then order a PSU but it shouldnt a prob spend money on a PSU until u have to (ex. gf probs)

I just bought that card and it is awesome. Can someone tell me some "tweek" settings to really get the most out of it without burning it up?

get cool bits - google it

and speedfan - google it

coolbits will install OCing

then right click on ur desktop go to properties > Settings tag > advanced > your vid cards' tag (ie GeForce 4 6600GT) a little thing should pop out on the left side click "clock and frequency settings
