This is pissing me off now. It won't even run at 2.4 ghz, with the hardware i have it should be doing that easily. I was running 1.51vcore, and it will hard lock after a couple of hours running 3dmark 06 and prime 95. Any ideas? FSB is 1:1, HTT at 4x, ram at 2.8v.

Well dude, I have an ASUS A8N-Sli Mobo and I managed to OC my 3800+ to 2.6Ghz, running stable, Ran 3DMark06 without a hitch, got like 2000 points just on the CPU Score, my Chip Voltage is at 1.45v, my HT is at 3x, altho checking if I can get it on 4x and stable, and my Ram timings are 3-3-3-5, you should see if it's your RAM that's setting you back, give them 2.8v on the ram and lower it to 333Mhz to see if it does the job

And Also bud, check your CPU Temps, mine OC is Idle at 32c with the HeatPipe 4800+ Cooler, the CoolerMaster Dual Storm Fan & Artic Silver 5

Now i'm really pissed off!! I just got it stable at 2.5ghz, 1:1 on 1.475v, ram is rated for 250(3438) on 2.8v(OCZ PC4000 Gold GX 2x1024), i ran Prime95 for 5h38min while running 3dmark06 and no problems. Then i stop both programs, start typing in this forum and BAM. BSOD for no FING reason!!! The only thing i started to do was update HL2, and i belive it was just finished decrypting the game and was starting it up. Now it BSOD's before i can even boot at 2.5ghz, but works fine at stock. Its Driver_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL one. Does that mean it's software related? I followed the windows registry tweak on tweaktown, the From Reformat to Relax one, could that possibly be causing some sort of conflict? It must be software, how could it run for 5.5 hours straight withouth any problems under the most stressful conditions and then after all the benchmarks were done and i was just finishing decrypting HL2 it BSOD'd and would not let me run 2.5ghz OC. Isn't that software realted?

Sounds like a setting in your bios(or you need the latest bios) btw you need to fix your system stats u have nf3 ultra d

Dude, looks like some sort of BIOS ERROR, on the IRQ ports, my recommendation is to double check all your settings, reset your bios would be better, and check your AGP or PCI-E aperture size, FSB, vCore etc. something is definately wrong. And Also, could be other things, as weird as it may sound, How's your HDD, is it old? making noise? etc? and try it with another RAM. you never know.

I am not sure about the voltage regulators on the NF3 boards. I think that might be what is limiting you.

Also try relaxing your ram timings.

Try removing 2 sticks and see if it helps.

If nothing works take to tylenol and call your doctor in morning. :D

Sorry guys, i really appreciate all the help here. Please continue. I updated my profile to my current setup. I will list everything i have set so far that I have changed or may need to be changed.
BIOS Options:
AGP aperature: 256mb, the reason i had it set that way, was that for some reason BF2 just seemed a bit smoother with it at 256 instead of 128, and YES I have the True 6800 GT OC 256mb(AGP) from BFG, not the regular 6800 NU 128mb.
Vcore:1.475or1.5 when at 2.5ghz, currently running 1.45@2.417ghz(No BSOD's).
RamVoltage:2.8
FastWrites: OFF
NO shadow or caching options enabled
T1 command rate(as my ram is rated for 2.8v, T1, 3-4-3-8 at PC4000 speeds)
CPU Voltage Adjust = default
FSB=200MHz
HT4x at 2.4ghz, but 3x at 2.5 cause it doesn't like to go 1mhz past 1000 or i get hard locks in games, but it makes no measureable performance difference.

My 12v rail is reading 12.10v in BIOS, 3.3v at 3.23, 5v at 5.12v. I can adjust the voltages more on my PS, as i have the OCZ Powe Stream 520w with 33 A on 12v rail. Its 520 watt continuous, no peak, peak is 600. Its a good powersupply. I'm running my graphics card on the one of the filtered lines. My HD is a Seagate Baracuda 7200.9 SATA2 with NCQ, which is not being utilized as my mobo is only SATA 1, but its supposed to backwards compatible. I JUST bought it, i originally got it for my A8V system(9800Pro, 4x512mb Corsair PC3200 XMS LowLatency, 3200 winnie), but that drive would not be detected by BIOS, so i removed my 120 gig from this comp and swapped the drives since this drive worked in this comp.

here is my mobo http://us.dfi.com.tw/Product/xx_product_spec_details_r_us.jsp?PRODUCT_ID=3160&CATEGORY_TYPE=LP&SITE=NA

My BIOS SHOULD be up to date, i updated it once since i had the board, but that was around christmas time, and my BIOS build date reads 2005/07/11, which is the date of the newest BIOS releas on the site. All the PCI IRQ's are default, if i remmeber correctly my graphics card is IRQ16, shoud i change it to something else? My CMOS Realtime Clock thingy is IRQ8 if i recall. And last of all Cool'n Quiete is OFF.

Thx, that helps, i also noticed that his 3800 has the same JH-E6 core revision as mine. Anyhow, i noticed he is running a divider, which is what i initially had to do with my A8V Deluxe cause VIA sucks for OC. Anyhow, for those of you running at 2.5~2.6ghz, what are you running for voltages, dividers, and timings, and what core revisions. Remember i'm still running tighter timings(stock) on my ram, but they are SUPPOSED to go to those clock speeds with those timings, but i don't know if command is supposed to be lowered to T2 or not. I'll have to investigate. Also, how would AGP aperature cuase this problem? Is 256 to much? How would that cuase IRQ erros, although its related as that's simply where texture memory goes when the video card runs out, but i have 256 on my card, so i suppose i should set aperature to 128, but not less that 64 i hear as its needed for addressing purposes regardless of how much onboard memory your card has.

It seems stable at 2.4ghz 1:1 with all stock timings and T1. I think i'll just leave it there. Also, i think my CPU might be running hot, its on 1.45v+.1 which on the DFI NF3 boards runs about 1.41~1.42v according to BIOS. But when i run Prime95 with max heat, powerconsumption test and 3d mark it reads 54c in Ntune monitor. That's pretty high for an A64. I'm running a really good cooler, the SI-120 from thermalright, they make the XP-120, and according to all the reviews the SI was only 1c hotter, which is almost nothing. But when i was working on my comp, i whacked the heatsink pretty hard with my hand while wrestling with a connector, is seemed to move quite a bit, should i clean off and reapply actic silver5? I also think that my case may have very impracticle cooling setup for my particular system. Only because of two reasons, the positions of the exhaust fans, one on top, one in back, two intake with their filter. but the one in back seems to be "stealing" air from the 120mm CPU cooler fan. Should i remove the rear exhaust fan? Or reverse it and turn it into an intake? And idle is around 39c according to Ntune monitor and BIOS.

Try reaplying the AS5, or at least letting it set again. I accidently moved my HS, and temps haven't been as low as they used to be since.

Heya Insano...mine's an E4, a true manchester which isn't supposed to oc as well as yours should...E6's in general do better and at lower temps. oc's forum is where i get most of my info...They have a nice little section where i post my most current 3800+ x2 scores, as well as a general x2 area and overall 64 amd oc section.

Also, what are all your timings? I've run into issues because one timing was off...Honestly, i'd imagine your core voltage is low. There are people that can hit 2.6 on 1.3v...but most are pushing 1.7-1.8 to get anywhere near that magic 3.0 (and obviously some special cooling)...

Another thing, it could be that your cpu simply can't push past 2.5...or more specifically your memory controller can't push past 250 (without better cooling and more voltage...). If you have your information from the cpu (which can only be gotten by physically looking at the cpu), you can see if anybody else has oc'd with the same model/production date as you. [CDBHE 0531 TPMW]...The 0531, is year and week i think...The guys over at oc forums have the low-down on it. There aren't massive amounts of people over there that have the 3800, but there's a chance that somebody has that cpu.

Lol...another thing...Stable...isn't stable unless it can run prime for 24hrs =)...A quick CPU/memory check is SuperPi 32m...3DMark is ok...but it barely gives the cpu time to get hot, and doesn't push it nearly as hard. Running half life 2 would be a much better test of the cpu with your configuration...but i've corrupted hl2 a couple of times trying to test that way...and it's a LOT easier to reinstall superpi then it is to install HL2. It should take 31-33min for you to run superpi 32m @ 2.4
