I finally finished building my rig about a week ago and decided to start overclocking. I ended up hitting 3.02 ghz with a x9 multi at 1.65v, 3x336fsb, and 216mhz for the ram at 1T. I'm very pleased with the results so far especially considering the fact that temps never go above 48c. Btw, it's running at these speeds 100 percent stable according to a bunch of sandra tests and I did not bother going past 3.02ghz. Here's a pic, http://img212.imageshack.us/img212/3429/speed7se.jpg

Btw, is 1.65v too much even though temps do not pass 48c? I can hit 2.85 Ghz with about 1.48-1.5v.

Incrased voltage leads to more stability/higher overclocks as it enables the chip to reach its Logic 1 threshold voltage internally quicker. (just as sub-zero LNO2 cooling etc enables more stability/increased overclocks as transistors will switch faster at lower temps) I've done alot of low level electronics work myself, and although I have never worked at a low level with hardware as complex as a modern CPU, nothing I have ever known would indicate that there is ANY negative side effect of increased voltage other than increased heat, and as long as you can handle the heat generation (and the motherboard power systems can cope with the voltage) then you'll be fine :)

is that on liquid or Air cooling? i bought an OEM 144 and i'm using a POS cooler right now that i had laying around and i'm at 2.5 ghz stable, and i have a Thermaltake Typhoon comming in about 3 day's, i would like to hit around 2.9 to 3.0 ghz...

CPU-Z verify please :D

Nice OC by the way. I would also run Prime95 for at least a few hrs to also check for stability.

Increasing cpu voltage can overheat your processor and, besides melting the processor, it can decrease the overall life and longevity of the cpu. I wouldn't take it further than that on air cooling.
