CNPS9500 heatpipe re-mounting question

hi

I am going to lap my Zalman CNPS9500's base, and I was thinking about it's heatpipes. Would it be worth re mounting them to the base with AS5?

Here is a picture of the heatpipes & base:



If they are mounted with some crappy compund, or even nothing at all ( 8O ) I guess it could chop a degree or two of the temperatures. Worth a try?

Don't remount the heatpipes with AS5, just lap the heatsink and put it on.
