Norton Systemworks saying "limit exceeded"

Hi there,

Was going to install XP sp2 but realized my 20 g HD wasnt roomy enough.

Cloned the 20 G to a 40 G. Using the 40 G Norton asked me to activate
Systemswork 2004. Did what they told me to do, typed in the key and kept
getting NO NO your limit has exceeded, thinking Im trying to install on
another machine. (didnt have this problem before).

What can I do to get around this?

Gordon:

There is a flaw in the NSW 2004 activation scheme. You will need to
call Symantec and they will issue a new code so you can activate your
copy.

Symantec's product activation is not as good as MS' (not even close).
Basically, they allow 5 activations. They don't do a good job of seeing
if the activations are on the same computer.

They give you an 800 number to phone when you run out
of activations. When you call it, they are extremely
patient and understanding, and ALWAYS have reset
their counters, at least for me.

That's not the only flaw in NSW2004.......I get an error LU1848
when I try to Live Update....and the workaround that they
offer is a virtual impossibility, just like they have no
simple UNinstall. I'll never update to 2005 when it comes
out.
