Opty 165 running hot?

I'm a bit confused my Opty 165 seems to be running at 36 C - fan doesn't seem to run on highes setting. This is running pretty much idle

I think it might be my fault? I did something dum. IE removed the processor from the origianl heat sing with some gew and just reput it back on. However I never pressed down so it wasn't fully sealed. (securing it to the motherboard)


Stock HSF
DFI Ultra D board
Aspire Navigator Extreme Case - so cooling should be sufficent all fans connected
OCZ 2 x 1 GB platinum ram

Does OverClocking without adding voltage and using the standard heatsink avoid warranty?

Overclocking VOIDS the warranty as you are running the CPU outside of it's designated published specification.

Will Artic Silver 5 paste help lower the temperature.

I plan on overclocking

No volt increase just to 2.4


Will that change the temp that much?

It can do, along with a decent cooler.

Make sure you apply only enough though. Too much of the stuff and it starts to act as an insulator.
