Adding extra Storage, please help

I have a Dell XPS gen 3 (yes its a dell hahah) and basically i have two 160 gig wd sata drives striped together. they use port 0 and 2

I am trying to add two additional drives i just got, 300 gigs each.

when i plug them in they register fine, after enabling the ports in bios, but they are set to non-raid and wont let me boot into windows. I have an option to hit crtl + I and create a new raid volume, bu i am afraid that i am going to loose all my data on original hd's.... I am very new to sata and raid since i owned ide hd's my whole life ... can someone please explain to me how to add these drives without causing any damage to my system.

Thank you very very much for the effort!

  1. Not sure on a dell. But one thing for sure. BACKUP WHAT YOU REALLY WANT.

Once backups are done, I would install the disks on ports 1 and 3 and go into the raid settings and set the 2 new drives to be jbod - just a bunch of disks.
Make sure it keeps ports 0 and 2 as a stripped array.
If that doesnt work then call dell and see if they can help you, that is if you can understand them. :D
