can you mix different size modules in pairs...123 in slot 1 & 3...256 in slot 2 & 4?

can you mix different speeds as above...800 and 1066?

is there an alternative that will operate in place of rambus?

can you mix ecc and non-ecc?

Thank you!

Yes you can have 2x128 and 2x256, but they have to be in the right slots, as you stated. Unless you have 1066, then I think you don't need to put them in as pairs anymore.

Can't mix 800 and 1066 or ecc and non-ecc to my knowledge.

Alternative? If you're talking about other RAM that will be compatible w/ the RDRAM slots, NO. If you're talking about just going away from RDRAM all together, yes - DDR400.

PC1066 is just faster PC800, so they still need to be in pairs.

THG made a small mistake in refering to RIMM4200 as PC1066. RIMM4200 is actually two PC1066 modules combined into one, it's 32-bit rather than 16-bit, and doesn't need to be paired because the pathways are paired on the module itself.
