Check the MB's online product page for all downloads available for your're specific board.

For what it is worth, I had a problem on my ASUS P6T deluxe when I converted to windows-7. Everything was good except when I put the PC to sleep, it would wake up without sound in a game; other sounds were OK. It turns out that the drivers windows-7 installed were not the soundmax drivers. I went to the ASUS site, like badge mentioned and downloaded and installed the soundmax drivers. Problem with sleep went away.

Go to it.

I got tired of a lot of my Soundmax stuff. I bought a Creative and an ASUS Zonar and one other cheap sound card and replaced some of the soundmax installations. better now.

I am not exactly thrilled by added soundmax code, all I want is for 5.1 sound to work decently. What in particular caused you to get tired of soundmax? In what way is it better now? I think I have an old X-fi card which I have never bothered to reinstall, would that be better in some way?

Well, I had one ASUS MB in particular, a P5B-VM DO micro 965G and the soundmax drivers were horrible. I have other soundmax equipped boards and the drivers ar not bad. I finally got tired of having only a single volume up and down control of my sound on that board. The Vista drivers were horrible. I bought a cheap 5.1 card at first and it worked so much better. Then I saw a creative XFI for $19 special on newegg and grabbed it. That card sounds great. I even broke out my old 70w 4.1's and they sound great with the XFI. I watch movies a lot on that HTPC. I also got tired of the Soundmax 'card' on my main frame ASUS X38 SE. So I bought a 7.1 ASUS Xonar for it. I have a BOSE 2.1 speaker setup on my main frame. It's has some punch now and more adaptable to the things I listen to. The Three Stooges or ACDC.

cheap card that woks if onboard is limited to volume up and down for a 'console'. I have the 5.1 edition.

I have this (for $19 F/S) in my HTPC. Very nice for video and music. Glorified Soundblaster LS.
