Jumper Settings?

are jumper settings on all motherboards the same?? my i need to do somethings to my friends motherboard which is from an HP Pavilion A420N. if some one know what jumper settings do what please post asap.

go to hp.com click support, type in the machine name hit product info and look for the article on the motherboard.
