I agree with prozac, in my opinion SLI is only good for insane resolutions
You should buy a non sli mobo and a 7900 or a X1900 8)

Agreed with aformentioned posts. SLI boards do seem to overclock better now, because all the great overclocking boards are SLI capable, but you have ASUS Premium, which is average as far as OC'ing goes. Since you have an Opteron your going to overclock. If you are going to get an SLI board then DFI is good for OCing. Non-SLI, well I am eyeing the Epox 9NPA-Ultra.

DROP THE 6800 SLI!!!!!!! If you go through with that then you would have made a horrible decision. Spring for a evga 7800 and then trade it in for the 7900 when it comes out!

Your monitor is big and if your cool with analog go for it. But if you want digital go for the dell 17 ultrasharp. My brother got that for is G4 and its sweet.

And if you want to save some dough ditch the sound card. Onboard sound is pretty good now, I use a dell and the sound is fine.

I agree with the wise posters above :D

SLI is not worth it. SLI is twice the price for maybe 0-30+% performance.

A single 7800GT/GTX, 7900 or X1900 is the way to go.

Otherwise your choice of parts is great :D

The only things I might change are the Seagate HDD and the RAM.

I would suggest looking into the WD2500KS and Corsair XMS or OCZ :D

SLI isn't bad; however it's not good for every situation. SLI is only a good idea if you're going to spend A LOT of money.

At the time of my purchase, there was no single card that could outperform my pair. Another example would be a friend of mine, who owns two X1900 XTXs. Multi GPU configurations are usually for people who want to have the best possible setup.

Setup looks good except for the monitor. If this is for gaming then you should go with a CRT. LCD may be the wave of the future but they just dont cut the mustard for games. Most of them cant handle the fast paced action game offer. And besides for the same price you can get a big nice 19inch monitor. Or spend a little more like i just did and get a 21inch triniton monitor thru ebay(brand new i might add) for 400.00 delivered.

6800GS x2 SLI on a LCD monitor that you'll only use @ 1280x1024 while gaming? You only use native resolution for serious gaming. Better off with a single more powerful GPU.

LCD monitor upgrade for higher contrast ratio or higher brightness is something you may want to consider. Maybe the ViewSonic VX922.
If you want to game at 1600x1200 resolution you'll need a native 1600x1200 LCD or a good CRT monitor.

Do you really need that floppy disk drive? (maybe install the floppy from your current system?) How about a Internal Card Reader/Writer instead. Get a 1GB USB flash memory stick to replace the floppy storage.
Card Reader/Writer with USB port
1GB USB Flash Drive

Get a Joystick upgrade to the Saitek X-52 HOTAS setup.
X-52 HOTAS Joystick/Throttle
Maybe an Ergodex DX1 to go with the X-52 to spend less time with the keyboard.

I suggest you check out the Asus A8R32-MVP and a X1900XT.
Then you still have an option for xFire later if you choose, and now you will have the fastest 939 combo available with the best overclocking potential.
Stock it seems to be getting 5400 3DMarks06
I have the little brother of both and get close to 5000 3DMarks06
