1gb DDR only reads as 512m

Hello - I just built a Biostar K8NHA Grand MOBO w AMD 64 3000+ and put 1 stick of Geil 1gb DDR400 memory in one of the two slots. System runs fine but BIOS and OS show only 512m of memory. I have tried two different sticks with the same results, Any ideas????

Mother Board does not specifically say supports 1gb sticks, but does say max memory 2gb and only has 2 slots.

make sure the mobo supports double sided ram. check the manufacturer webside and double check the ram to make sure somebody didnt sell you 512MB ram as 1gb

I went to Biostar's site, and they claim to support 2gig's with only two slots, but in the certified DDR 400, they do not show Any 1gig sticks that work with the board yet.

I've had a problem like this before. and after a closer i spection i found that 1 of the pins inside the actual slot was bent down. i have no idea how this happend but i just got a magnifying glass and a small knife a pushed it back into the slot. everything works ok now.
