hey every1 :D

*just wondered what people are getting on their R580 core's!?

*can any1 provide information on if its really possiable to mod XT to XTX with just bios upgrade !

* + the DDR3 ram on the boards are rated to 900mhz '1800mhz' any1 hit that ?

* temps 'both stock and overclocked' ?

* and if any 1 has benchmarked theirs post plz :D

thanks

I get 4,935 3DMarks06 and 9,881 marks in 3DMark05 with my A8R-MVP and X1800XT with a Opteron 175.
As far as a BIOS upgrade, not needed. The ATI driver overclocking will let you boost up speeds in excess of the XTX speeds and save the settings for every boot.

My ATi Radeon x1900XTX clocks at 750/1700 (maybe higher honestly have no tried) watercooled. I have no volt modded it or anything. It loads at ~46C and idles at ~36C.

I've heard of them hitting over 800MHz on the core but with some more extreme cooling. As for the memory chips I've heard of them doing 1750.

And I'm not exagerating as I wouldn't want to spread mis-information. Of course results vary.

Curious Rich. What exactly do you have in your pc to obtain those scores. I have a EPoX 9npa+ with a 4000+ San Diego at 2.82GHz and a x1900xt stock, for now. I get about 4900 in 3dmark '06. Anything you can suggest doing to tweak this setup.

I can get my x600 to 565MHz core and 310MHz memory from 450/290. The memory has no heatsinks, so it won't go any higher :(. Once I get some copper heatsinks and a new GPU cooler, I'm hoping to get to 600+ core, 350+ memory.

Wow thank you very much for all those guides. Much appreciated.
I hope to squeeze a bit more out of my processor than 2.82 GHz. My friend keeps boasting about his 2.92GHz San Diego 4000+ and I'm sittin on a 2.8 GHz. Kind of sad. Hopefully I can square away some limitations that are keeping me from getting there if my chip isnt the limititation, after all, every OC is different.

I can only hit 695/819 on my X1900XTX using the overclock tool at driverheaven, and ATI tool to increase voltages. Running the GPU at 702mhz even at higher voltages causes the card to switch of after a while, and setting the memory any higher causes serious artifacts.

Why wont the 1.1ns ram run at its rated speed???

My X1900Xt is running at 650/750 stable (Tested through hours of playing oblivion), and it gets 5633 on 3DMark2006 with an OC'ed 4200+. The memory however doesn't want to be pushed further, causing heavy artifacting at 775, so I guess it'll have to stay at 750 (or 1500mhz). Perhaps sometime i'll push the gpu a little further and see if it can run at a stable level.

The ram clocks are looking pretty strange. I had my X1800XT at 1700mhz with very slight artifacts, but it ran 100% stable.

The X1900XTs use the same 1.2ns ram as these, but there clocked lower by default, and dont reach anywhere near as high. The XTX comes equipped with 1.1ns memory, which I did check when I stuck on some arctic silver, but mine refuses to work over 1640mhz.

I have a Powercolor x1900XT running at stock. The ATI Overclock program test says I can safely run the GPU at 689 and the Memory at 774. Seems to me it was running pretty hot though at 87 C. I haven't bumped it to that. Is this a safe OC?

AMD 64 4000+ San Diego
Asrock Dual SATA 2
2 Gb Corsair
ATI x 1900xt
Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS
WD 160 Gb

Thanks

Always go for an OC with slightly lower speeds than the recommended speed, so to ensure for a stable OC. I would try a 685/770 clock, test it first through 3DMark2006 and try to notice small (or bloody huge) artifacts. If the screen becomes messed up like hell or the PC shuts down, then tweak the settings a little lower until this stops occuring. However, only OC if you know you can keep the system cool. I have an Accelero X2 on my X1900XT, and the case itself is very well ventilated, so temps never go over 70C unless the room i'm in gets warm.

Yes, there samsung BJ11 chips which I googled and it said 1.1ns 1800mhz @ 1.9-2.1v.

Strange, weird, artifacts after a while in anything when running higher then 819mhz. :x

I wonder if it could be the general architecture of the X1900XT that could be restrictive on the memory frequency, or that the memory is getting undervolted badly. I just wonder whether it would be safe to use ATItool to up the voltages on the memory a bit to see if it has an effect on the memory in keeping it stable when i push it to XTX speeds....

My warranty is already screwed... I changed the HSF on it... but then again... who cares.

I wonder though whether the voltage mod can be adjusted by modifying the BIOS or having to have a physical mod to boost the voltage a little to the RAM. I feel the X1900XT could really benefit from an increase in memory bandwidth...

When I'm not living in a place which is bound by a contract, then I might consider turning a bit of living space into a tech lab (practically... would be cool), and then with a decent income may i start doing such stuff to my components (Damn, I can dream! :D )

Soldering on a 400 dollar video card is not recommended and can be very harmfull to your wallet.
That's what the x1800gto is for.

You're a pussy.

4.jpg

This was done by me with a crap soldering tip.

 I just want to protect my investment!!

Meh.... I'll probably give it a try some time... of course, when I find how to do it exactly and at least have some solder and a soldering iron.
