Knowing Dell, installing a new PSU will probably be hard work, since there cases are mega crap. Last year I was fitting a new PSU in my Dell case and wotcha know, it didnt fit. There was no hole in the back of the case to allow the PSU switch to fit properly, and the manual fan adjusment was in the way.
Dell is dumb, just becasue there PSUs are switchless doesnt man others are.
That’s been part of the marketing plan, Proprietary parts, so they hope you will buy replacement over priced parts from them to keep the machine running after covered warranty runs out. There are some other options for those people stuck with their Dell. Other power supply producers and such make parts for the propriety type machines (make sure you check out their support on there products before you buy also!)
To spite them, I got my dad to cut a hole in the back so it would fit properly, after I got too nervous having the psu held in by one screw and string.
