I like discovering new bands. However, sometimes it gets to be a bit tedious trying to find a good one. So all rock fans, please post your favorite obscure band here.

Mine: Queens of the Stone Age (not so obscure, but a lot of ppl still have never heard their music)

Video (ZZTop's Billy Gibbon's does a guitar solo and cameo's in this video)

And a few others...

Queens of the Stone Age

Phreaky...sounds kinda' like a "Doors" cult group...

Reply to AilingBlackLab

they are... a little bit. their music is a mixture of black sabbath, the doors, and maybe some zz top.

a truly unique band in today's music.

in my opinion of course.

Queens of the Stone Age is cool. 8)

I don't know if Dave Grohl is still in the band, but it sounded just great with him.

And you mock me for being an Allman Bros. fan... I suppose you have the whole Danger Kitty collection?

Reply to AilingBlackLab

Dave Grohl is not in the band anymore... he kinda never was. He just drummed for them in Songs for the Deaf. Dave was quoted as saying QotSA is his favorite band.

Unfortunately he never did any shows or anything. But regardless, he is the BEST drummer on earth. Hands down.

If you like the bizarre, these guys are for you. And Alex Dickson is an ace guitarist.

I can recommend the seminal album "Penguins on the Moon".

I like him, but even claiming he's one of the best is a stretch.

No, they're great, just busting you on the whole southern rock stereotype.
See your pic.

As a guitarist, I figured you'd know, appreciate the playing of one George Lynch.

Coolest guitar...ever!

I just spen 20 min's looking for the "Coolest Guitar" I've ever seen..Can't seem to find it... It was a solid chunk of walnut carved into The "Famous Marilyn Monroe Play Boy Centerfold" pose... A total work of art...

What about Dave Weckl? Have you heard anything of him?

I saw them live at V (uk live music weekender), but I only caught half their set because I wanted to see Lemon Jelly.

I'd recommend using Last FM (www.last.fm) it's a net radio station that plays songs similar to those of your favourite bands.
It's not amazing and sometimes gets it hopelessly wrong, but you might find a few new bands you like.

same with Pandora

Nifty little music site

Friend of mine saw QOTSA at Glasto in 2003. Grohl made a guest appearance on drums. Word spread like wildfire round the site, and a tent that was supposed to hold no more than a few thousand had close to 10k people in it. An awesome set by all accounts, and the bastard has never let me forget that it.

Best drummer IMO? Dave Lombardo. The king, pure and simple.

Looks good, if it doesn't involve a download it's preferable.
I'll stick to Last though, as Pandora doesn't have 'Skitz' in it's music library.

Check out Mr. Scary of off Back For The Attack. Nice layered instrumental
with some nice shredding. I love his playing style.
