Im looking at getting a new ATI video card and was looking for some advice on what to get from people who know the scene. My trusty 9800pro kicked the bucket after 2 and a half years service and i bought a 6600GT (Nvidia) AGP card after reading up on them . The first thing i noticed is what ive been reading about lately that ATI has better image quality than Nvidia but i didnt think id be able to tell the difference , how wrong i was !!! When playing PES5 on my 9800 pro on max quality/detail the level of detail when zoomed out as far as you can go was nice and smooth on my 9800pro but with the 6600gt after 2 days of every setting combination you can imagine i just cant emulate the smoothness of the ATI on the 6600GT .Ive got about £250 to spend on a new card and have made up my mind to get another ATI but im undecided as to whether to get an X850XT or the X1600XT as they are not a million miles away from each other as far as price goes . Can someone just point me in the right direction and the differences between these cards as there doesnt seem to be a great deal . Many thanks , Steve , Plymouth UK

the X850 XT will give better framerates and higher AA/AF, but the X1600 has more advanced visual features in newer games.

If you have to buy ATI, and you can wait a month or two, hold off.
Ati is releasing the X1800 GTO which should be in the same price range but have advantages of both - better framerates, high levels of AA/AF in the price range, and advanced shader model 3.0 features.
