Buy another 6600GT to use in SLI, or should I just upgrade?

I have an XFX 6600GT (128mb and 8 pixel pipes) and I've played Far Cry and Call of Duty 1. Call of Duty is fine with high settings, but Far Cry only lets me play on low settings, or else it gets all choppy during the intense battles with the nightvision goggles on. So basically, I'm assuming if I buy FEAR or CoD2, I will have to play on low settings also.

I bought the 6600GT as a temporary card, so it's not like I'm totally pissed about this. However, I'm wondering if I should buy another 6600GT and run it in SLI mode? I have heard you only can get 8 pipes out of each card when you run SLI, and that's all the 6600GT has anyway.

Or should I just upgrade?

SLI is just dumb. the only excuse for a person with an intel cpu with an sli board is that they wont get screwed when new cpus come out so they can upgrade due to the nforce4.

anyways back on track. i have a 6600gt and i play FEAR at 1024x768 max detail, no aa, 16x AF, no soft shadows and i still get 51 fps. so im not upgrading for a while. quake 4 is 60fps solid at 1024x768 on high.
